Is it June already?

My last blog post was back in January of this year. Time has flown by and so much has happened since then!

First of all, most local craft shows have resumed, both outdoors and indoors. By February I was fully vaccinated (YAY) but continued to mask up where it was recommended. By April, the restrictions here in SC lessened. We went on a few trips - two weeks in Florida and a 5 day golf trip to Hilton Head. In May we were fortunate to have gotten tickets for the Wednesday practice round of the PGA Championship on Kiawah Island.

All during this time I was busy making baskets...in my living room, in the bedroom, on the porch, in the car and in the vacation condos! Every free moment was dedicated to building my inventory. I was accepted into the 21st Annual Art Festival at the prestigious Brookgreen Gardens, which took place this past weekend on June 5th and 6th. In spite of some very wet weather, I managed to sell 42 baskets during the 2 day event. It was great to have so many sales, BUT it put a big dent in my inventory, so I need to put my weaving into overdrive!

This morning, June 10th, I was notified that I have been accepted into Artisanville in Greenville, SC. That two day show takes place the first weekend in November and draws over a thousand visitors. I need more baskets!! Being accepted into this show was definitely a long shot, but I think the fact that they knew I had participated in Brookgreen definitely helped to "up" my artistic credibility!

I currently display and sell in four locations. In Murrells Inlet where I live, I have baskets at Flamingo Porch - a really cool consignment shop. In Conway I am at the farm to table Shine Cafe and in Georgetown I am at D. Newks Artists Cooperative. A couple of months ago I branched out and now sell at The Spirited Hand Gift Shop in Bluffton, SC - just outside Hilton Head Island. As baskets sell at these locations, it's getting harder to keep up - but so far, so good.

I hope that you all are doing well and getting somewhat "back to normal". I will try to reach out before another 5 months pass!!
