Greetings to All!
As we enter year 2022, I want to send out my sincere thanks to everyone who supported my hobby this past year. Whether your support was in purchasing some of my work, visiting me at my shows, recommending me to others or just sending encouraging words my way - THANK YOU! All support is welcome and much appreciated.
We celebrated New Years Eve quietly at home, with TWO BIG LOBSTERS!!! It was fun and filling!
I have started the process of searching for shows in which to participate in 2022. In 2021, it was the first time I had traveled to a show and stayed overnight. We did this twice - once to Greenville, SC and another to Mount Pleasant, SC. We learned much from those two experiences.
I just paid the fee for my first show of 2022. I will need to update my calendar! I am participating in a THREE day show from March 18th through the 21st. It will be held at the Myrtle Beach Sports Complex and is entitled "Vintage Market Days of Coastal Carolina". I am hoping to apply and be accepted again at the Brookgreen Gardens June show, as well as a second attempt to participate in the Holly Jolly Holiday Fair in Anderson, SC. Fingers crossed that I am successful.
This year, with the help of my dear friend and fellow basket coiler, Nancy (who goes by the great name of "The Basket Hag"!) I made a connection with this woman from ETSY who will transfer your images onto coasters, that I can use as basket bases. (see attached image of some of the coasters) I selected some of my favorite images over the years, and ordered several coasters on hardboard with cork backing. Some of them are 3 3/4 inch rounds and others are the smaller auto coaster size. I am looking forward to seeing what baskets result from these bases. I usually have a vision as to what the final outcome will be, but the basket sometimes takes on a life of its own and the result is not what I originally intended or imagined...
I wish you all a happy and healthy new year and I hope our paths will cross along the way.
